What to Expect During a PAT Testing Visit

Never had a PAT test before? Here is what happens during a typical visit from start to finish.

If you have never had PAT testing done before, here is a step-by-step guide to what happens.

Step 1: Arrival and Walkthrough

We arrive at the agreed time and do a quick walkthrough to identify all areas where appliances are located.

Step 2: Testing Begins

We work systematically through each room. Each appliance is visually inspected, electronically tested, labelled, and logged.

Step 3: During Testing

Each appliance needs to be briefly unplugged (30–60 seconds). We work quickly to minimise disruption.

Step 4: Failed Appliances

If anything fails, we explain the fault clearly and advise on repair or replacement options.

Step 5: Certificate

You receive a digital certificate by email listing every appliance tested and the results.

How Long Does It Take?

  • Up to 20 appliances: 30–45 minutes
  • 20–50 appliances: 1–2 hours
  • 50–100 appliances: 2–3 hours

Book your PAT test and we will confirm the expected duration for your premises.
